NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police three people were hurt after a car and school bus carrying 37 children crashed in Newark.

The agency said in a news release that the crash occurred just before 7 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Salem Church Road. Troopers say 49-year-old Ahmad Abdullah of Wilmington was driving Toyota Corolla east on Old Baltimore Pike.

Officers say Abdullah failed to stop on a solid red traffic signal and collided with a school bus driven by 55-year-old John Ewasko of Wilmington.

Troopers say Abdullah, a 13-year-old girl in his car, and Ewasko were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. None of the students on the bus was hurt.

Abdullah was cited for failure to stop at a red light.
