BOONTON, N.J. (AP) - Emergency responders have rescued a teenage boy who fell down a cliff near the Rockaway River.

Boonton police say the 13-year-old and a friend were walking in a wooded area of Grace Lord Park on Sunday morning when the teen slipped on the wet ground. He then slid about 30 feet down the cliff.

The teen called police for help and rescue squads soon arrived. The crews used ropes and a basket to secure the boy and hoist him to safety.

Authorities say the boy was being treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.
