PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man is headed to prison for sexually assaulting a boy he was baby-sitting several times over three years.

The Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/2dEGXep ) reports that 77-year-old Ronald Palazzo pleaded guilty Monday in Pittsfield to charges including rape of a child with force and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. The Sandisfield man was sentenced to up to five years in state prison.

Authorities say the assaults occurred between September 2012 and July 2015. The now-6-year-old boy told investigators the abuse happened between one and three times per week.

The judge called the abuse a “monstrous act” before accepting a joint recommendation of three to five years in prison.
