BRIGHTON, Ala. (AP) - Three people have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred as a community center’s “Love Thy Neighbor Day” celebration that was attended by hundreds was coming to a close.

Brighton Police Chief Ray Hubbart tells media outlets that 32-year-old Antonio Hinkle, an innocent bystander, was shot dead at a park Saturday evening. Six others were injured, including a 4-year-old girl.

Hubbart says 47-year-old Jimmy D. Williams and his son, 19-year-old Samarjay J. Leshore, are each charged with attempted murder and five counts of first-degree assault. Nineteen-year-old DeMarcus R. Brown is facing a gun charge.

Investigators are awaiting ballistic testing to determine who killed Hinkle.

Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a fight between Leshore and one of the victims.

The Jefferson County town has held the annual party for the past three years.
