GRETNA, La. (AP) - Louisiana authorities say a man recently sentenced to 66 years in prison for a 2013 attack on a woman in California has been indicted in Jefferson Parish in the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman almost 20 years ago.

The New Orleans Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/2cWYRpm) Friday Jefferson Parish deputies were alerted in early 2013 to a potential DNA match between 52-year-old Kevin Andre Brown and a swab from a woman who told police in June 1997 that she had been raped at knifepoint.

Officials say Brown was arrested after a brutal attack on a 55-year-old female relative in Sacramento.

Louisiana authorities pursued further testing in the event Brown was freed or escaped, though he was eventually convicted of assault.

It is not clear when he might be extradited to Louisiana.
