TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in the Tucson area have arrested a suspect who may be tied to five rape cases.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office says a task force took 43-year-old Christopher Garcia into custody Thursday.

He’s been booked into the county Adult Detention Complex on suspicion of armed robbery, sexual abuse and aggravated assault.

It’s unclear if Garcia as a lawyer yet.

According to investigators, there are similarities among two alleged rapes in Pima County and three in Tucson.

The first case occurred Aug. 26 and the most recent on Tuesday.

Deputies say each incident was more violent than the one before, but didn’t immediately release any details.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the cases to contact police.
