NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - An Amtrak supervisor has admitted that he fraudulently overbilled the company for overtime and regular hours that he didn’t work.

Federal prosecutors say Donald Harper Sr. pleaded guilty Friday to a complaint charging him with converting federal government funds to his own use.

The 47-year-old Somerset man faces up to a year in prison when he’s sentenced March 20. He also must pay $20,346 in restitution.

Harper has worked for Amtrak since February 1990 and supervises 19 employees. Prosecutors say he fraudulently billed the company for about 192 overtime hours and nearly 28 regular hours that he claimed to have worked when he really wasn’t present at Amtrak work sites.
