OAK LAWN, Ill. (AP) - A 27-year-old man has been named in a warrant in the slaying of his mother who worked as an aide to Illinois Congressman Dan Lipinski.

Court records reveal the warrant was issued for Steven Chmela.

Marianne Viverito’s body was found Tuesday in the basement of her Oak Lawn home after police received a request for a well-being check from an out-of-state police agency. She suffered multiple stab wounds.

The Daily Southtown reports that Chmela shared the home with his 55-year-old mother. Chmela is expected to be formally charged in the coming days.

Oak Lawn Division Chief Randy Palmer said Friday that a suspect was being held in Wisconsin.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that a doctor’s evaluation is scheduled for Chmela.

Viverito had worked in Lipinski’s office for the past decade.
