Maybelline has appointed popular beauty vlogger Manny Gutierrez, known on social media as Manny Mua, as its first male brand ambassador.

Mr. Gutierrez, who has more than 2 million subscribers on YouTube and 3 million followers on Instagram, stars in two new videos alongside popular beauty blogger Shayla Mitchell as part of Maybelline’s Big Shot campaign.

Maybelline on Tuesday shared the videos showing the two getting “bossed up” by applying the brand’s Big Shot Mascara before a party in New York City.

“We’re so excited to team up with Manny and Shayla, who are true leading influencers in the social media world, on our first ever video campaign that features influencers as the stars,” Anne-Marie Nelson Bogle, senior vice president marketing for Maybelline New York, said in a statement, PopSugar reported.

“The duo’s boss-like personalities, in which they unapologetically slay both their makeup looks and their professional lives on a daily basis, made them a perfect fit for the role,” she said. “They represented the ‘boss’ beauty attitude in this mascara campaign that no one else could, truly inspiring their audiences daily to be their own bosses which brings the inspiration and message of this mascara to life. We’re looking forward to more exciting social influencer collaborations in the future.”

Mr. Gutierrez shared his excitement about the new partnership on his Instagram, writing, “2017 you are off to an AMAZING START OMG! So excited to finally announce that I am part of the @maybelline#bigshotmascara campaign! Honestly I couldn’t be more honored thrilled! Thank you to Maybelline for taking a chance on me! I look forward to working together so much more.”

The news comes just months after fellow makeup giant CoverGirl unveiled its first coverboy, beauty blogger James Charles, as the face of its So Lashy! mascara.
