BALTIMORE (AP) - A former high school teacher accused of sexual offenses against a student has been sentenced to three years imprisonment.

The Baltimore Sun reported on Monday that 25-year-old Ekatherine Pappas pleaded guilty in June to three counts of fourth-degree sex offense. Maryland dropped related felony charges.

The report quotes Baltimore County prosecutor Perry Wasserman as saying Judge Sherrie R. Bailey sentenced Pappas and suspended all but one year and one day of it, gave her five years of supervised probation upon release. Pappas also must register as a sex offender for 15 years.

The report says Pappas was arrested after police discovered a video of her engaged in a sex act with a male student.

The Sun reports that Craig M. Kadish, the ex-Spanish teacher’s attorney, didn’t respond for comment.
