DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say four people have been shot in Desert Hot Springs after an argument between neighbors turned violent.

KESQ-TV (http://bit.ly/2tfV5hb) says police responded to a burglary complaint Wednesday in the desert town east of Los Angeles after one neighbor accused another of theft.

Police Chief Dale Mondary says officers didn’t find any evidence of a crime and left. The man who’d made the allegation then confronted his neighbor by himself. The situation escalated into an argument and then a fight.

Gunfire erupted. Mondary says one man was shot in the leg, another was grazed in the head, and two other men were shot in their torsos.

There’s no immediate word on their conditions.
