SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Prosecutors say they are not seeking to certify three teenagers charged in the death of a West Valley police officer as adults.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/2mtus8c ) that after separate hearings for the three teens on Thursday, prosecutor Sandi Johnson said that for now, the cases are advancing in the juvenile system.

Johnson says that because new information is still coming in, that decision could later be revised.

Police have said three boys, ages 14 and 15, were in a stolen car that struck West Valley City Police Officer Cody Brotherson on Nov. 6 while he was placing spike strips in an effort to stop a police chase.

All three teenagers are charged with murder with gang enhancements, car theft with gang enhancements and failing to stop at the command of a law enforcer.
