CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Police say one person has died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound while another person was hospitalized in a shooting southeast of Portland in Corvallis.

Corvallis police said in a news release that officers were called Friday afternoon on reports that a man had been shot alongside Highway 34.

Police say witnesses told them the man had fatally shot himself.

Police say a second person with a gunshot wound was found in a nearby wooded area.

The Oregon State Police Crime Lab has been called to help investigate and the highway was closed for investigation. Police believe there’s no further danger to the public.

No further information was released.
