CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Four New Hampshire schools have been honored for meeting high standards of excellence in the state.

The schools recognized by the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards Board are the Pleasant Street School in Laconia; the Deerfield Community School; the David R. Cawley Middle School in Hooksett; and Winnacunnett High School in Hampton.

Selection committees composed of experienced New Hampshire educators and community leaders assess schools through written applications, presentations, and on-site visits. Schools are asked to demonstrate their effectiveness in the areas of curriculum and instruction, teaching/learning process, student achievement, leadership/decision-making, community/parental Involvement and school climate.

They will be recognized at an awards ceremony on June 10.
