Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly indicated she has no plans to sit down with President Trump for her new NBC show, saying her kickoff discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin is enough “ego” on the show for now.

“For this show right now, we’re focused on different things,” Ms. Kellytold The Hollywood Reporter about “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly,” which debuts June 4.

“Listen, I wouldn’t say no to a sit-down with President Trump, but it’s not necessarily how I want to kick it off,” she said. “Especially since we’re going to be kicking it off with an interview with Vladimir Putin. How many of those big egos can you fit into one show?”

Ms. Kelly is scheduled to moderate a discussion with Mr. Putin this Friday during Russia’s St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. She told Deadline that she hopes the discussion will lead to a one-on-one interview, but there’s no guarantee Mr. Putin will agree.

“We’ve asked, like everybody else,” she told the website. “I’m looking at it as, I have a one-on-one with him on that stage and will make good use of it.”

Sunday’s debut ends Ms. Kelly’s five-month break from the spotlight since she left Fox News. Her departure from Fox followed a long, public spat with Mr. Trump spurring from her performance moderating a GOP presidential debate as well as sexual harassment allegations made against the network’s ousted CEO, the late Roger Ailes.

“I’m enjoying being out of the melee,” Ms. Kelly told Deadline. “My life was a little crazy for a year or two prior to my departure from Fox.”

Ms. Kelly said both of her new shows, including her upcoming program to debut in September that will take over “Today’s” 9 a.m. slot, will not be all politics, all the time.

“Yes, we will have red meat on both shows,” she said, “but they’re not going to be only red meat.

“My goal is to put on a great show, deliver news in way that is accessible for regular Americans of all stripes. And don’t talk down to your audience,” she said.
