Once Miss Kadela's leg is stitched up, the skin is stapled together. The hour-and-a-half long surgery included making an incision in her tibia to collect bone marrow, which was then placed between her ankle bones for cushioning. Her bones were then screwed together so that they will fuse together. She will be unable to put weight on her ankle for six weeks.
