Yesterday at University Hall in Charlottesville

NUMBER

44.4Virginia’s free throw percentage (12 of 27)

PLAY OF THE GAME

Guard John Gilchrist’s 3-pointer to put Maryland ahead 91-89 came after forward Nik Caner-Medley’s offensive rebound in a loose scramble. If Caner-Medley didn’t get the ball, the Terps might have lost.

SEEN AND HEARD

NOT SO FAST: Fans began leaving with 18 seconds remaining in regulation and Virginia trailing by three. Guard Gary Forbes’ 3-pointer to send the game into overtime suddenly had a lot of people heading back to their seats.

PICTURE PAGES: Center Will Bowers said he hasn’t seen his picture in Sports Illustrated trying to block a Duke shot. Hard to believe the sophomore is waiting for his father to mail him a copy. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the swimsuit edition.
