Maryland’s top men’s basketball recruit, Shane Clark, has left school after being ruled academically ineligible.
The 6-foot-7 forward from Philadelphia was considered the gem of the incoming recruiting class and a player who would have been especially valuable as a sophomore during the 2006-2007 season after this year’s four seniors depart.
“Shane is a great young man, and we wish him well in the future as a student-athlete,” Maryland coach Gary Williams said in a statement.
