Did anyone in the universe have Angel Cabrera in a U.S. Open pool? The guy has a history of impaling himself with his short stick, and yet he wins on the toughest set of greens on the planet? Unreal.
The Rover would like to applaud the USGA for perhaps its best job running our national championship. From a logistical and course setup perspective, there were no hiccups this week at Oakmont.
• The Rover returned from a dew-sweeping round of golf yesterday to find the parking lot to his motel roped off and a host of emergency vehicles swarming around a restaurant across the street called Max & Erma’s. A local in a lawn chair who was obviously delighted with the day’s unexpected source of entertainment informed the Rover: “Somebody called and said they was fixin’ to blow up M&E’s. Who would do such a thing?”
Indeed. Then again, its cheese fries really are atrocious.
