Chargers receiver Eddie Royal eager for trip home to D.C.

Royal and Redskins running back Royster grew up together in Fairfax County. They helped Westfield High to a Group AAA, Division 6 state championship in 2003 and both went on to college success at Virginia Tech and Penn State, respectively. But this week will be just Royal's third game in his hometown. Published October 30, 2013

Redskins' passing game still sputtering as RG3, receivers out of sync

Griffin has had his moments this season, but his accuracy throwing the ball has clearly regressed. He completed just 15 of 30 passes for 132 yards against Denver with two interceptions. Griffin has completed just 59 percent of his 268 attempts this season. That ranks 25th in the NFL. Griffin's passer rating is 79.2. That is 21st. Published October 28, 2013

Redskins notes: DeAngelo Hall briefly gives hope

His 26-yard interception return for a touchdown early in the third quarter put the Redskins ahead 21-7 and stunned the crowd at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. But they were the last points Washington would score in a 45-21 loss. Published October 27, 2013

RG3 knee injury final indignity in Redskins' collapse

Griffin was smashed to the turf by nose tackle Terrance Knighton and lay injured for several minutes. He eventually walked off the field under his own power, but only after his left knee had caught in the turf with 5:43 to go. Published October 27, 2013

Redskins notes: Fred Davis inactive again

Davis sat amidst rumors that he wants to be dealt before the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday. Davis denied that in a radio interview last Tuesday with radio station 106.7 The Fan. But he also said that a change of scenery might be necessary if he isn't in the team's plans. Published October 27, 2013

Mike Shanahan focused on present, not past, in return to Denver

Sunday, after his starting lineup is introduced before a hostile crowd at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, the Broncos will show a highlight clip of the Shanahan years, which included those back-to-back titles in 1997 and 1998. It's a nice gesture, but not one Shanahan cares to think about. Published October 24, 2013

Brandon Meriweather suspension hits Redskins at inopportune time

That scenario is far from ideal with Peyton Manning and the pass-happy Denver Broncos on tap. But the Redskins will have to deal with it after the NFL on Monday handed Meriweather a two-game suspension for repeated violations of the league's ban on hits to the head of defenseless players. Redskins escape Bears as RG3 rediscovers form

The Redskins remain in rough shape at 2-4 with a trip to powerhouse Denver looming next week. But more positive signs from their quarterback on Sunday infused a new level of optimism for a team that began the season 0-3. So has Griffin found his form of last year? "Without a doubt," he said. Redskins edge Bears on Roy Helu's third TD of day

It was the first multi-touchdown game of Helu's career. He had three touchdowns in his career total prior to Sunday's contest. The Redskins held leads of 17-10, 24-17, 31-24 and 38-31, but could not put the game away. Published October 20, 2013

Jordan Reed emerging as prime target in Redskins' offense

The key now? Making plays when opposing defenses have a better feel for what he can do. Make no mistake — the Chicago Bears, this week's opponent on Sunday at FedEx Field, will have a much better idea of what Reed can do. Published October 17, 2013

RG3 ready to keep running against Bears after breakout rushing effort

Griffin ran for 77 yards against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. It was more than his combined yardage through the first four weeks of the season (72). Expect to see more of that starting this Sunday against the Chicago Bears as the quarterback continues to progress from January knee surgery. Published October 16, 2013

Redskins' defense given little chance in 31-16 loss to Dallas

On Sunday night in Dallas, when a win would have pushed the Washington Redskins right back into the thick of the NFC East title chase, Fletcher's crew did a credible job against one of the NFL's better offenses. And yet, in the end, that didn't matter at all in a 31-16 loss that left the Redskins grasping for answers. Published October 13, 2013

Will Alfred Morris regain Redskins workhorse status against Cowboys?

"When you really look at it, we're behind on the scoreboard, so we have to pass more," Morris said. "I haven't had that many carries as I did last year. It's not that teams know who I am. They do know that, but at the same time, I'm not getting that many carries. As long as we win, I can't care less." Published October 10, 2013
