Redskins edge Bears on Roy Helu's third TD of day

It was the first multi-touchdown game of Helu's career. He had three touchdowns in his career total prior to Sunday's contest. The Redskins held leads of 17-10, 24-17, 31-24 and 38-31, but could not put the game away. Published October 20, 2013

Jordan Reed emerging as prime target in Redskins' offense

The key now? Making plays when opposing defenses have a better feel for what he can do. Make no mistake — the Chicago Bears, this week's opponent on Sunday at FedEx Field, will have a much better idea of what Reed can do. Published October 17, 2013

RG3 ready to keep running against Bears after breakout rushing effort

Griffin ran for 77 yards against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. It was more than his combined yardage through the first four weeks of the season (72). Expect to see more of that starting this Sunday against the Chicago Bears as the quarterback continues to progress from January knee surgery. Published October 16, 2013

Redskins' defense given little chance in 31-16 loss to Dallas

On Sunday night in Dallas, when a win would have pushed the Washington Redskins right back into the thick of the NFC East title chase, Fletcher's crew did a credible job against one of the NFL's better offenses. And yet, in the end, that didn't matter at all in a 31-16 loss that left the Redskins grasping for answers. Published October 13, 2013

Will Alfred Morris regain Redskins workhorse status against Cowboys?

"When you really look at it, we're behind on the scoreboard, so we have to pass more," Morris said. "I haven't had that many carries as I did last year. It's not that teams know who I am. They do know that, but at the same time, I'm not getting that many carries. As long as we win, I can't care less." Published October 10, 2013

Redskins know they'll have to bring heat on Tony Romo

"[Romo] gets such an unjust bad rap. The dude is a hell of a football player," Washington linebacker Ryan Kerrigan said. "That's why he got paid so much money this offseason. He's really good. If people want to blame him for that interception on Sunday — he threw for 500 yards and five touchdowns. He made one bad throw and it cost them." Published October 9, 2013

DeAngelo Hall gears up for another showdown with Dez Bryant

Hall got the better of the last matchup, as Bryant was targeted just eight times by quarterback Tony Romo and finished with four receptions for 71 yards and no touchdowns. Washington took the game 28-18 and the division title and playoff spot that went with it. Published October 7, 2013

Leonard Hankerson beginning to emerge as a key receiver for the Redskins

In a game Washington absolutely had to have against Oakland, LeonardHankerson made his contribution. A key catch in the third-quarter was one of his four receptions on the day and set up the go-ahead score on a touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon. The Redskins were down 14-10 at the time. Redskins' special teams have plenty of room for improvement

That unit is expected to act like clockwork. Hit field goals and extra-point attempts, don't turn the ball over, provide the occasional big play and make sure the opponent doesn't. It's a pretty simple formula, but so far the Washington Redskins have struggled to execute it. Published October 2, 2013

Redskins blend optimism, realism as they enter bye week

"You've just got to focus on the job at hand," said Mike Shanahan, whose team will not play again until Oct. 13 against NFC East-leading Dallas. "Once you get too carried away, to me, that's when a team goes one way or another." Published September 30, 2013

Redskins get first win as Roy Helu Jr. comes through in relief

With starter Alfred Morris out thanks to a rib injury, Helu's team needed him. Playing in front of friends and family at O.Co Coliseum, just 22 miles from his hometown of Danville, Calif., Helu helped put away the Redskins' first win of the season, a 24-14 victory that a few hours earlier seemed improbable. RG3 facing unprecedented scrutiny as Redskins seek 1st win

"It's part of the process. It's part of being a quarterback in the NFL," Griffin said Wednesday. "Things are going to happen. You're going to have to deal with the scrutiny and be able to face it or overcome it. That's just what it is." Published September 25, 2013

Questions aplenty for 0-3 Redskins, but answers elusive

"Nobody could have told us that it was going to be like this," cornerback Josh Wilson said Monday. "But this is a test of our team, a test to see if we are who we say we are. Are we a team that's going to never give up, a team of confidence, a team of always going to fight?" Published September 23, 2013

Redskins notes: London Fletcher takes a breather

Fletcher left the field several times during his team's disappointing 27-20 loss to the Detroit Lions at FedEx Field on Sunday afternoon. He was replaced by reserve Nick Barnett, who had yet to take the field this season. Published September 22, 2013
