  • Jay Groff, 89, served in the Army Air Corps Rescue Boat Service at Pearl Harbor, Oahu. Groff was in bed as the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor began, which he says probably saved his life. Groff calls the attack the most important day of the 20th century, adding that "the world changed for the United States." He goes on to say, "I grew up overnight....
