The ding dongs at Big Labor who refused to make concessions when Hostess Brands, the makers of Twinkies, Drake's Cakes and Wonder Bread, faced imminent bankruptcy, now find themselves frozen out of the newly constituted company.
In yet another never-ending series of terminal ding-dong moves, members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union went on strike and drove Hostess out of business, providing one more stinking example of how labor unions can no longer have their cake and it eat it, too.
Is there a more iconic American snack than the Twinkie?
Twinkies, Ho Hos and Wonder Bread are up for sale now that a bankruptcy judge cleared the way for Hostess Brands Inc. to fire its 18,500 workers and wind down its operations.
Hostess Brands Inc. lived to die another day.
The maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos and Wonder Bread agreed Monday to last-minute mediation talks in the labor dispute that has driven the company to the brink of shutting its doors.
Hostess, the maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, plans to go out of business, lay off its 18,500 workers and sell its snack cake and bread brands.
