Billionaire investor Tom Gores has agreed to buy the Detroit Pistons and other properties, the team announced Friday.

The Detroit Pistons announced Friday that billionaire California investor Tom Gores has agreed to buy the struggling NBA franchise, ending a drawn-out sale by longtime owner Karen Davidson that stretched back before the season.

The owner of the Detroit Pistons on Friday confirmed she is in negotiations with a California billionaire interested in buying the struggling NBA franchise.

Mike Ilitch, the Little Caesars pizza mogul who already owns the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings, said Monday that he wants to buy the Detroit Pistons in part to make sure another buyer doesn't move the NBA franchise out of town.
"It's very rewarding for me to see these and remember back when we were actually testing them, riding them," he said of the vehicles on display. "Very exciting."
"There are a lot of different chapters, and there are chapters that aren't as well-known as others," said museum vice president Bill Davidson, the great-grandson of Harley-Davidson Motor Co. co-founder William A. Davidson, describing the history of the company where he's worked most of his life.
