Chinese tech giant Huawei has reported details of its 2012 financial performance as part of efforts to increase transparency and allay Western concerns the network equipment supplier might be a security risk.
"It's not as if people stop talking on the phone because the economy is weaker," Meng said. "We will not be influenced too much by the economic downturn in our industry."
Meng said R-and-D spending last year rose 26 percent to 29.9 billion yuan ($4.7 billion).
