More than 18 years after being on the wrong side of a suspension-drawing check from Dale Hunter, Pierre Turgeon said he has moved on and hopes his old adversary succeeds as Caps coach.
While many of the fans who came to Heinz Field to check out the Penguins-Capitals alumni game on Friday morning were looking to see the return of Pittsburgh's Hall-of-Fame center Mario Lemieux to the ice, it was Capitals alumni Peter Bondra who scored on a shot just 0:42 left in regulation to lift the Washington alumni to a 5-5 tie with Pittsburgh.
Mario Lemieux will be joined by Hall of Famers Paul Coffey, Ron Francis, Bryan Trottier and Larry Murphy on the Pittsburgh Penguins' roster for a Winter Classic alumni game against the Washington Capitals on Dec. 31.
He said he hadn't talked to Hunter about the play since a conversation two days afterward.
