A misdemeanor driving charge against retired television movie critic Gene Shalit is set to be dismissed in Massachusetts.

The famed Oasis co-founder, who celebrates a birthday this week, has made quite a noisy impact on the world, and not just with his songs.

When his best friend took a shine to the girl Jerry Falwell wanted to court, Falwell volunteered to mail his friend's love letters, and threw them away, mailing his own. The girl was his friend's fiancee. It worked, and in 1958 Mr. Falwell married Macel Pate, to whom he was devoted until the day he died of a heart attack at age 73 in his Liberty University office on May 15, 2007.

Ninety minutes before his final home game, Ben Hansbrough's emotions are toying with him. A part of his life is about to end. You wouldn't know it, though, because he is on the basketball court _ the place he enjoys most. He jumps up and down in exhilaration.

Jason Garrett nailed his audition. He gets to remain coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
