D.C. mayoral candidate Vincent C. Gray prides himself on loyalty and longevity in his relationships, relying for advice on a small cadre of confidants and friends who are also established figures in D.C. politics.
Before that vote, Mr. Gray said he was "mightily impressed" with Mr. Bailey.
When Mr. Gray was asked what he would do to avoid substituting his friends for Mr. Fenty's if he is elected mayor, Mr. Gray said, "That won't even be an issue if it comes up, because we will make sure there's sufficient distance between me and my friends."
