Drees Homes is building 40 town homes at Linton at Ballenger in Frederick, a community with walking paths, green space and plans for a clubhouse, swimming pool and sports fields. The community is close to Historic Downtown Frederick, Francis Scott Key Mall, parks, country clubs and commuter routes.

Toll Brothers is building town homes at Amberlea at South Riding in Ashburn, a planned community with a golf course, sports courts, clubhouses, swimming pools, playgrounds, parks, trails and neighborhood events held on the Town Green. Market Square includes shops, restaurants and services.

Van Metre Homes is building 76 single-family homes on 7,500-square-foot sites at Village Run at Stone Ridge in Aldie, a planned community with a community center, a fitness center, two swimming pools, an amphitheater, a library, a Wi-Fi cafe, a shopping center, parks, tennis courts, a day care center and miles of walking trails.

Craftmark Homes is building 16 single-family homes at Fairview Manor in Bowie, located near Bowie Town Center and Six Flags America.

Pulte Homes is building 340 single-family homes on half-acre sites at the Hamlets at Red Cedar in Leesburg, a community with 900 acres of open space, miles of walking trails, parks, a butterfly garden and a community center with a swimming pool, fitness center and meeting room. Nearby are wineries, historic Leesburg, shopping centers and parks.

Michael Harris Homes is building 18 single-family houses on sites of 4,200 to 8,400 square feet at Maple Lawn in Fulton, a planned community with green spaces, walkways, a swimming pool, a formal garden, a tennis court, a picnic pavilion, a tot lot, a multipurpose court, and a green for softball, soccer and outdoor concerts. The community also has a retail center with shops and restaurants.

Integrity Homes is building 200 to 300 single-family homes on sites of one-fifth to one-half acre at Willowsford in Aldie, a community with plans for a resort-style swimming pool, a lake, a boathouse and dock, walking trails and a lodge with a fitness center and meeting and party rooms.

Wagner Homes is building 26 single-family homes on sites of one-third acre or larger at Canterbury Crossing in Severna Park, a community with a recreation area and tot lot adjacent to biking and walking trails. The community is a short drive from historic downtown Annapolis and from the Westfield Annapolis shopping mall.

K. Hovnanian is building 122 town homes at River Pointe Towns in Leesburg, a community near the confluence of the Potomac River and Goose Creek. Planned amenities include a clubhouse, a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, a tot lot and walking trails. Historic downtown Leesburg and the Leesburg Outlets are nearby, along with several golf courses.

Miller and Smith is building 158 single-family homes in the Noble Pointe Collection at Brambleton in Ashburn, a planned community with swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, parks, ponds and trails, a clubhouse, playgrounds and ball fields.

Active-adult communities, restricted to homeowners age 55 and older, offer a variety of temptations for older people. While some are drawn to these communities for the camaraderie of living with neighbors who are in the same generation, others are eager for the simple pleasure of a low-maintenance lifestyle.
Bozzuto Homes is building 30 town homes and single-family homes on sites of 5,900 to 7,500 square feet at Uptown at Murray Hill in Annapolis, within walking distance of Church Circle, City Dock and Park Place. Uptown at Murray Hill includes a community pocket park.

Drees Homes is building 238 single-family homes on quarter-acre sites at Colonial Forge at Augustine in Stafford, a community with a clubhouse, a tennis court, a swimming pool and nature trails. The community is close to multiple golf courses, parks and shopping centers as well as Interstate 95 and the Stafford County Government Center.

Michael Harris Homes is building 112 20- and 24-foot-wide town homes at Symphony Park in North Bethesda, which shares a campuslike setting with the Music Center at Strathmore. Symphony Park has a cobblestone entry, brick walkways, fountains and European-style gardens and mews within walking distance of the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station. Shops and restaurants are nearby in Rockville and downtown Bethesda.

Pulte Homes is building 45 town homes on quarter-acre sites at Quince Trace in North Potomac, a community near the Quince Orchard Swim and Tennis Club and Kentlands, which has shops and restaurants.
