British rock stars are seizing the stage to close the Olympics with an extravaganza that promises to keep a worldwide audience entertained well into the night — and dancing all the way to Rio.

Mo Farah didn't want to leave anybody in doubt.

Jessica Ennis won the Olympic heptathlon gold medal on Saturday, the first for Britain on the track at the London Games.

Jessica Ennis kicked off the London Olympic athletics meet early morning with the fastest 100-meter hurdles ever run in the heptathlon and added a great 200 under darkened skies to take a big step toward gold for the host nation in the seven-event competition.
"Sports lovers were excited by the Olympics, but I think there are a few people that weren't sure as to how it would pan out," Ennis said. "But it's just brought everyone together, and it's been a whole buzz throughout the country."
