    Lawyer: Edwards knew money was for his benefit

    The lawyer for a wealthy heiress who provided secret payments intended to help John Edwards testified Friday that the former presidential candidate acknowledged the money had been given for his benefit.

    Ex-Edwards aide had awkward run-in with mistress

    Another former close aide to John Edwards testified Thursday about bungled efforts to keep the former presidential candidate's affair hidden from staff members, including an awkward encounter when his mistress showed up at a hotel weeks after her work filming Mr. Edwards had ended.

    The wife of an ex-aide to John Edwards testified Monday the former presidential candidate told her over the phone that it was legal to take money from a wealthy donor to take care of Edwards' mistress.
