Artist Jorge Selaron may have taken his own life by setting himself on fire on the very steps of his masterpiece, a brilliantly colored public staircase that became a symbol of Rio de Janeiro, the homicide police chief said Friday.
"Today I slept in a hotel because these last few days I've been threatened by Paulo, who is still my heir," he wrote on the drawing.
"In the last 20 days, he lost control entirely," Selaron wrote.
