    MILLER: Gun grabbers kill jobs

Gun-control laws don't reduce crime, but they do reduce employment. Some governors don't care and are pushing for more pointless statutes that put their citizens' jobs on the line. Smarter governors sense the opportunity to poach a few manufacturers from their colleagues.

    MILLER: The NRA was right

It may not stick, but the Obama administration might be getting a late education in the value of guns. When President Obama first exploited the tragedy at Newtown for more gun control, Wayne LaPierre, the CEO of the National Rifle Association, suggested putting armed guards in the schools.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. plans to discuss arms control with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov this month in Munich ("Biden to use Obama's postelection 'flexibility' on weapons with Russia," Web, Thursday). The postelection nuclear-disarmament flexibility promised by President Obama to Russia in an open-microphone gaffe in 2012 may now be realized. • FIELDS: Hearts and flowers for Hillary

Hillary Rodham Clinton got an early valentine from President Obama, leaving Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. to celebrate Groundhog Day alone. Perhaps the veep sees a shadow already (you can't blame him for looking over his shoulder), and he'll burrow underground.

TAUBE: Obama's baby steps toward gun control

There is a variation of an old joke in Washington political circles about Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. For all his knowledge and experience, the safest public relations strategy is to keep him on a short leash.
