Home day care providers would be forced into unions
Charlotte officials plan to buttress the city's sizable police force with about 3,400 extra officers during the 2012 Democratic National Convention to help protect top politicians from across the country, most notably the president.
— South Carolina's first female governor called a reporter a "little girl" over an article she wrote detailing at least $127,000 in taxpayer dollars the governor and other state officials spent on a European economic development trip.
But city spokeswoman Kim McMillan said the convention is the most complex because of the security needed.
