    Any sport without a finish line or clock or some definitive standard is subject to skepticism about the results. It has happened at the Olympics before, and now it's happened at Sochi after Adelina Sotnikova skated away with the gold medal, the first for a Russian woman in the individual event.

    Judging talk overshadows figure skating again

    Leave it to figure skating and judging, where winning can be obscured by whining.

    North Korean leader Kim Jong-il left Russia aboard his armored train late Thursday, crossing into Manchuria in China's northeast a day after pushing for a return to discussions on his country's nuclear program.

    North Korean leader Kim Jong-il on Tuesday took a dip in water from the world's largest freshwater lake and visited an aircraft factory in eastern Siberia, leaving his armored train en route to meet with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

    Kim Jong-il's Russia trip focusing on energy

    North Korean leader Kim Jong-il continued a rare trip to Russia on Monday, traveling in his private armored train through the country's resource-rich far east ahead of a summit with President Dmitry Medvedev expected to focus on energy cooperation and nuclear disarmament.

    N. Korea's Kim in Beijing, likely to meet Hu

    North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-il's secrecy-shrouded tour of China came to the capital Wednesday for a likely summit with President Hu Jintao as the North appeals for food aid and Beijing presses its communist ally to reform its ailing economy.
