Two Italian art historians are claiming to have identified dozens of drawings as those of a very young Caravaggio in a collection of works of a master painter under whom he studied in the late 1500s.
Two Italian art historians claim to have discovered as many as 100 works, most of them drawings, by a very young Caravaggio in a collection long attributed to a master Milanese artist he studied under while a boy in the late 1500s.
"I saw the originals," Mr. Bernardelli Curuz said.
Yet Maurizio Bernardelli Curuz says he was able to visit the collection after hours and "saw the originals."
