    Afghanistan: Policewoman who killed American adviser is Iranian

    The policewoman who killed an American contractor in Kabul is a native Iranian who came to Afghanistan and displayed "unstable behavior" but no known links to militants, an Interior Ministry spokesman said.

    Taliban storm Afghan hotel, kill 18 people

    Heavily armed Taliban insurgents stormed into a lakeside hotel north of Kabul and opened fire on guests inside, killing 18 people — most civilians — before the 12-hour long rampage ended Friday morning, Afghan officials said.

    Afghan witness recounts shooting rampage

    An Afghan man recounted on Monday the harrowing scene in his home as a lone U.S. soldier allegedly moved stealthily through it during a killing spree, then crouched down and shot the man's father in the thigh as he emerged from the bedroom in the deep of night.
