    Newtown, Conn., school offers fresh start for Sandy Hook kids

    Sarah Caron made her son his favorite pancakes for breakfast and walked the second-grader to the top of the driveway for the school bus. It was 7-year-old William's first day of school since last month's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, and his mother tried to make the day as normal as possible. But it was harder than usual to say goodbye.

    6-story Jesus statue in Ohio struck by lightning

    A six-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms raised along a highway was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm Monday night and burned to the ground, police said.

    Lightning strike destroys Jesus statue

    Hundreds of sightseers drawn to the remains of a six-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ that was struck by lightning and erupted into flames stopped Tuesday to snap pictures or gaze at the ruined structure.
