The New-York Tribune was an American newspaper, first established by Horace Greeley in 1841. From the 1840s through the 1860s it was the dominant Whig Party and then Republican newspaper in the U.S. Its editorials were widely read and helped shape national opinion. In 1924 it was merged with the New York Herald to form the New York Herald Tribune, which in turn ceased publication in 1966. - Source: Wikipedia
