James Andrews, the team’s senior orthopaedic consultant, disputed a claim by coach Mike Shanahan that he cleared Griffin to return Dec. 9 against Baltimore. Griffin subsequently left the game against the Ravens for good after initially returning and did not play for two weeks while his knee sprain healed.
