Rod Blagojevich, the ousted Illinois governor whose three-year battle against criminal charges became a national spectacle, was sentenced to 14 years in prison Wednesday, one of the stiffest penalties imposed for corruption in a state with a history of crooked politics.
The Supreme Court says it won't stop a special election for President Obama's old Senate seat that leaves out current Illinois Sen. Roland Burris.
The U.S. military operates dozens of hospitals and hundreds of clinics here and abroad. If Planned Parenthood and Senate Democrats have their way, those taxpayer-funded facilities will become America's newest abortion centers.
Mr. Burris argued that the federal courts overstepped their authority by declaring that the candidates would be the same people running for the new Senate term.
