How the government's punishing of the exposure of official wrongdoing can linger for years
Four veterans treated at the St. Louis VA Medical Center's dental clinic have tested positive for hepatitis, but further testing will be necessary to determine if inadequately sterilized dental equipment is to blame, VA officials said Friday.
The Veterans Administration said Thursday that the chief of dental services at a St. Louis VA Medical Center has been placed on administrative leave after the hospital urged nearly 2,000 veterans to return for blood tests because inadequately sterilized equipment may have exposed them to viral infections during dental procedures.
Cooperation with China is "clearly in the U.S. interest," argued the ranking member of the subcommittee, Rep. Russ Carnahan, Missouri Democrat.
Mr. Carnahan said he still had concerns about how the VA is handling test results.
