One key shift in U.S. policy was overlooked in the barrage of news about President Obama's eventful 50-hour visit to Israel last week. That would be the demand that Palestinians recognize Israel as the Jewish state, called by Hamas leader Salah Bardawil "the most dangerous statement by an American president regarding the Palestinian issue."

The Islamist militant group Hamas would remain on the sidelines if a war broke out between Israel and Iran, according to a British newspaper's interview with a senior Hamas official.
Iran, which has called for Israel's destruction, has lost a partner in the region: Senior Hamas leader Salah Bardawil said Tuesday in an interview with the Guardian, a British newspaper, that his Islamist militant group would not take part in an Israeli-Iranian conflict.
