    Troy Davis mourned as a martyr by 1,000 in Ga.

    Sent to death row 20 years ago as a convicted cop killer, Troy Davis was celebrated as "martyr and foot soldier" Saturday by more than 1,000 people who packed the pews at his funeral and pledged to keep fighting the death penalty.

    Atlanta execution in parole board's hands

    His legal appeals exhausted, supporters of Troy Davis made a last-ditch effort Monday to stop his execution for the 1989 murder of an off-duty Savannah police officer, asking the Georgia pardons board to grant clemency to the 42-year-old who insists that he is innocent.
