The decision by the Boy Scouts to include homosexual Scout members has opened a new front in the Catholic culture wars as increasing numbers of Catholic pastors are withdrawing their support for parish-based Boy Scout troops, while progressive Catholic organizations and newspapers are describing the pastors' decisions as "bigoted."

A pivotal vote on the Boy Scouts of America's membership policy is still two weeks away, but advocates for and against admitting openly gay youth are busy making their cases.
The future of the Boy Scouts is on the line. Left-wing activists have made overturning the youth organization's traditional values a priority, and the national leadership will decide in May whether to cave to the pressure and celebrate homosexuality as a moral value for the nation's boys.
