    With marriages to be available for Minnesota's gay couples starting Aug. 1, Duluth residents Gary Anderson and Gary Boelhower are getting ready to do something that seemed impossible when they started dating three years ago: plan a wedding.

    A senior Senate Democrat has joined the GOP chorus that for days has blasted the Internal Revenue Service for targeting conservative groups, with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus saying Monday he plans to investigate the beleaguered agency over the matter.

    Minnesota becomes 12th state to pass gay marriage

    The Minnesota Legislature became the 12th to pass gay marriage Monday, leaving just a handful of states that have yet to act definitively on the issue.

    What is the Senate doing with the Internet sales-tax bill ("Internet sales tax faces a tougher sell in the House after passing Senate," Web, Monday)? First of all, the United States is a federation of independent states. Each one has its own laws, taxes, etc. If the Senate is acting to force businesses in one state to collect taxes for another state, those businesses are acting as an agent for that other state.

    Minnesota moves toward gay marriage law

    Minnesota senators will likely give the final stamp of legislative approval on Monday to a same-sex marriage bill, the twelfth state in the nation to pass the law.
