    Gio Gonzalez shuts out Cardinals as Nats roll

    The minute Gio Gonzalez's left foot hit the dirt on his way out of the dugout for the ninth inning Friday night, the cheers began. They cascaded down on him. Nearly 30,000 people on their feet at Nationals Park chanting his name.

    Gio Gonzalez in the mix for Nationals' season opener?

    Gio Gonzalez and his familial entourage rolled into Roger Dean Stadium around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. They turned out more than 20 strong to watch the Hialeah, Fla., native in his second spring start — from his parents, Max and Yolanda, to aunts, uncles, cousins and the Hialeah baseball team he helps sponsor and coach.
