    Matt Holliday returns to Cardinals lineup

    St. Louis Cardinals cleanup hitter Matt Holliday is back in the starting lineup against San Francisco, nine days after undergoing an appendectomy.

    World Series champion Giants receive rings

    Bruce Bochy pulled a prank on a few of his players late in spring training, bringing them into his Scottsdale Stadium office and showing them an inexpensive ring from the Dominican Summer League. He insisted it was a preview of their World Series jewelry to come.

    Holliday told Cardinals not to put him on DL

    Matt Holliday had been having stomach pains for several days before undergoing an appendectomy last week. He also told the St. Louis Cardinals he didn't need to go on the 15-day disabled list.

    Champion Giants ready begin the games that count

    In many ways, Brian Sabean would rather his World Series champion San Francisco Giants opened the season at home. That way the fanfare and frenzy could end right away and the club could turn all its focus to baseball and pick up where it left off last fall.
