OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — When you reach the playoffs in five straight seasons and take home a Super Bowl trophy to cap the run, it's difficult to stay at home in January while a dozen other teams are still playing football.
Baltimore went 8-8 and fell out of contention with a 34-17 loss to Cincinnati in the season finale. It wasn't a disaster of a season, but it certainly wasn't what the Ravens were looking for coming off the second Super Bowl win in franchise history.
Although the Ravens have placed a high priority on signing quarterback Joe Flacco to a long-term deal, the team has no intention of overpaying potential free agents or having several players restructure their contracts in order to keep the current roster intact.
Joe Flacco's victory tour Monday included a stop in New York to appear on CBS' "Late Show" with David Letterman.
Steve Bisciotti is wearing a plaid sports jacket, crisp checkered shirt and multicolored pocket square. Sunglasses hang from the jacket pocket, and the Super Bowl ring he earned 12 years earlier sits heavily and prominently on his right hand.

Former Baltimore Ravens owner Art Modell was admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital on Wednesday.
Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti enthusiastically supports Joe Flacco as his quarterback, has every intention of retaining unrestricted free agent running back Ray Rice and believes the window of opportunity for his team to reach the Super Bowl remains wide open
Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh signed a three-year extension Monday that will keep him under contract through 2014.
Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti is confident that offseason labor talks will result in an agreement that will enable the NFL to avoid a work stoppage in March.
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett spent more than six hours yesterday interviewing for the coaching job of the Baltimore Ravens but left the team's training facility without filling the vacancy.
"The fans, their frustration can't lead us to offer somebody up for sacrifice for the things that went wrong," Bisciotti said. "Because I have a litany of examples of our defense letting us down, too. ... Every position group had a failure, every coach had a failure and it all added up to 13 wins and five losses."
"I'm proud of the success; I'm frustrated with the loss," Bisciotti said. "Last year, I said our goal was to be one of the elite teams. Realistically, our goal is to try and be in the top 12 that gets you into the playoffs. ... We got to the final eight three years in a row. That is the cream of the NFL that gets to the final eight, and only one of those eight teams is going to go on a three-game winning streak at that point. That's the one that's going to be crowned Super Bowl champ."
