Texas A&M took another step toward leaving the Big 12 on Thursday, formally telling the conference it was exploring all its options.
The NCAA on Thursday accepted SMU's self-imposed two years of probation and recruiting restrictions for the men's basketball team after staff sent approximately 100 impermissible text messages to the parents of at least seven prospects.
June Jones watched four quarterbacks take simulated shotgun snaps while four receivers scattered across the SMU practice field. Moments later, four footballs went flying.
SMU coach June Jones has signed a two-year contract extension that would keep him at the school through the 2014 season.
"Larry Brown is one of the top coaches in the history of the game," said SMU athletic director Steve Orsini. "He is a legend and has made every team he has ever coached a winner. As we transition into the nation's top basketball conference, the Big East, his leadership will be invaluable."
